About YEC Online Radio

YEC Radio is a Youth-led nonprofit online media initiative founded by the Youth Equality Center (YEC) that offers information on a range of issues affecting young people.

YEC Radio prepares diverse Youth for the 21st-century digital workplace by offering students hands-on education, leadership, and employment in journalism, arts, and technology, as well as access to support services like academic advising, Leadership, and Sexual reproductive Health care information and services. Partnering with mass communication students, Young media professionals, activists, and bloggers, students learn to produce content shared with thousands online, elevating youth perspectives on the most important issues they face. 

Our Philosophy

We must have our own statistics as young people and we must tell our own stories, or else we will continue to be invisible in an agenda central to our future.

Led by Youth for the Youth, the YEC Radio programs provide personalized interaction with a peer outreach Digital champions (Online Presenters) trained in online behavior change communication through social media, who not only provides accurate information about Youth priority issues including Health, Education, Available Job opportunities among others but also referrals to youth-friendly services. Using unique identifier codes for each user, the program tracks cyber-education sessions, referrals, and effective referrals, remaining engaged with youth and responding to questions throughout the process.

YEC Radio Online programs co-designed with youth which leverage comprehensive digital marketing and communication strategies can increase access to youth-friendly information and services in addition to increasing Youth interaction online.

Setting up the physical studio at Exhibition space provide live Broadcast and live streaming event proceedings

  • Document voices of stakeholders and later broadcast them on radio as Podcasts
  • Engage Youth audiences prior, during and after the event
